What is a Canadian Forest Horse?
Also known as the Canadian Mustang, Canadian Wild Horse or Canadian Ice Pony, this is a breed created from the natural breeding of American Mustangs in Canada, Icelandic Ponies and Newfoundland Ponies. This elusive breed was not discovered until the mid 1900s, though it's history traces back to the early 1500s. Unable to be caught and domesticated until now, the Canadian Forest Horse was simply considered a nuisance animal and were hunted by plane. But now they are being rounded up and sold to selected breeders for as useful animals. This project was started by Camella Starre of Star In A Circle Stables, now it is lead by Kane of Vale Estates. These horses make great Endurance, Cross Country, or Trail horses.
